Zero Hour Mortgage Litigation Surge

With only days left of the Obama administration, the Justice Department launches a cleanup of mortgage fraud cases leftover from the financial crisis. Within 12 hours on Dec. 22, prosecutors targeted three large banks to resolve questions about the sales of toxic mortgage debt. Deutsche Bank and Credit Suisse Group AG decide to pay a combined $12.5 billion to settle DOJ investigations into their ruinous mortgage debt.
