Strategic Plans and Tools Every Grant Professional Needs to Convince Clients

The days of chasing the money are over. Funders are much savvier and want to see that your mission and goals align with their mission and goals. Insisting that you are good stewards of their resources is the norm, and why not?  When you spend your money, don’t you want quality products, effective tools, and a good return on your investment? To this end, grant professionals must challenge their clients to invest time in developing their strategic plans prior to applying for resources. Whether it is a three- or five-year organizational plan, it has to outline where they see themselves going, what they want to achieve, how they want to get there, who will be responsible and how they will measure it.

Once a strategic plan is in place, an action plan can be outlined in order to see the goals come to fruition. Does it take time, collaboration, consensus, brainstorming, negotiation and humor?  Of course! However it also results in a roadmap to success that will get you the resources you need to reach your goals as an organization. Expert speaker Cyndi MacKenzie in this session, will share with you tools she has used with her clients over her career for strategic planning and action planning, as well as show you examples of completed plans from clients willing to share their success. Templates will be in Word format so you can adapt them to your use. Cyndi, who is a Grant Professional Association-approved trainer, will walk you through the entire process and answer any questions you have.
