How to Overcome Organizational Challenges – and Improve Your Level of Grant Readiness

Grant proposal success is not possible without organizational readiness. Some of the important aspects of being grant ready include strong leadership, established governance structures, strategic planning, internal policies and procedures, data collection, measurable outcomes, and external collaborations. However, in many organizations, conflict, politics, environmental changes and growing pains can challenge the accomplishment of these – and leave agencies paralyzed in their own process of analytics. So what should you do to improve your level of grant readiness?

Learn how to get “un-stuck” and improve your chances of success with Grant Professional Certified expert Cyndi MacKenzie. MacKenzie will discuss the importance of having a strategic plan, and why it matters to have a conflict of interest policy. You will receive valuable insights on issues such as: does the leadership need to agree on everything, how important is it to have all your policies in place before you apply for a grant, are collaborations necessary for winning grants, and more.

MacKenzie will also provide a list of documents you need to be “grant ready” – including useful resources to help you create policies and procedures regarding organizational readiness.

Session Highlights

MacKenzie will answer important questions, such as:

  • Do you really need a strategic plan to apply for a grant?
  • Why does it really matter if you have a conflict of interest policy?
  • Is having anecdotal data enough to prove ones effectiveness?
  • Your Board donates their time. Do they have to contribute financially?
  • In a small non-profit, does it matter that the same person who signs checks also balances the statement?
  • Does leadership need to agree on everything?
  • Do all our policies have to be in place before we apply for a grant?
  • Are collaborations necessary for winning grants?
