Rep. Maxine Waters Seeks Funding Infusion For Housing

Homelessness eradication will be House Financial Services Chairman Maxine Waters’ (D-CA) chief housing priority as she describes in a brief statement before an audience at the Center for American Progress liberal think tank. But homelessness is only a part of a mammoth $13 billion-plus proposal Waters is set to reintroduce in the House. The measure, now in its final drafting phase to update, is dubbed the “Ending Homelessness Act.” Waters first introduced the bill in mid-2017 as a vehicle not only to address the growing homeless problem in the country but also to guarantee a permanent stream of funding for the National Housing Trust Fund.
