Private Sources Abound for Arts, Culture Programs

With the Republican-led Congress working on an omnibus funding measure to keep the governmental operational through the current fiscal year, the Trump administration is reportedly pushing for decreases in arts and culture funding at the National Endowment for the Arts and National Endowment for the Humanities. Congress must act on an omnibus funding measure before the current continuing resolution (PL 114-254) expires on April 28. A CR is short-term legislation approved by Congress to keep the government open. The final omnibus likely will include funding for all federal agencies, except for the Defense and Veterans Affairs Depts. The FY 2017 for the latter two agencies has already been finalized by Congress and the White House. NEA, NEH offer millions in funding NEA funds programs that strengthen the creative capacity of U.S. communities to provide all Americans with diverse opportunities for arts participation. The Our Town program (CFDA Number: 45.024) and Art Works Creativity Connects Projects (CFDA Number: 45.024) are examples of the agency’s most popular funding efforts.
