New $242.5M Initiative to Prepare Children for School Success

(Deadline: Nov. 6) The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), in consultation with the Education Dept., releases the inaugural solicitation for its Preschool Development Grant Birth through Five program or PDG B-5 (CFDA Number: 93.434) (Funding Opportunity Number: HHS-2018-ACF-OCC-TP-1379). The competition will provide $242.5 million in grants to state governments, with awards ranging from $500,000 to $15 million each are expected. ACF’s Office of Child Care will operate the program. OCC supports low-income working families by providing access to affordable, high-quality early care and afterschool programs. These grants will assist states in developing, updating and implementing a strategic plan facilitating collaboration and coordination among existing programs of early childhood care and education to prepare low-income and disadvantaged children to enter kindergarten ready to succeed in school.
