Inspector General: Medicare Unlawfully Paid Millions to Illegal Immigrants

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) paid 481 illegal immigrants a total of $9,267,392 during 2013 and 2014 – and then, after discovering the error, made no attempt to recoup the unlawful payments. Those are the findings of the Health & Human Services’ Office of Inspector General (OIG) detailed in a just-released audit report.
