Although the new fiscal year doesn’t start until Oct. 1, the Health Resources and Services Administration (HHS) is getting a jump start on its billions of dollars in FY 2019 grantmaking, releasing a few solicitations and providing details on many other big-ticket competitions. HRSA is the primary federal agency providing grants to improve health care for those geographically isolated and economically or medically vulnerable, including people living with HIV/AIDS and pregnant women. HRSA also supports the training of health professionals, the distribution of providers to areas where they are needed most and improvements in health care delivery. The State Primary Care Offices solicitation (CFDA Number: 93.130) (Funding Opportunity Number: HRSA-19-005) is among the first to be released by HRSA. State governments and nonprofits must submit proposals by Nov. 5 for $11 million in funding (https://tinyurl.com/yabzpwvc). The agency expects to make 54 awards to support state activities to provide primary care services. These activities include promoting the recruitment and retention of health care providers to fulfill identified needs and working with other state or territorial agencies, as well as organizations outside of the state whose policies affect health care services. Ryan White competitions underway The HRSA funding forecast information and open solicitations include competitions for one of its signature programs – the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (https://tinyurl.com/yaw6hxpt).
