The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste, a Washington, DC-based watchdog group, claims a House bill will upset the market dynamics behind Medicare Part D and raise costs for consumers. "The most significant impact of the bill would be to undermine the negotiations that occur among pharmacy benefit managers, drug companies and pharmacies,” says Council President Tom Schatz. “Such negotiations have succeeded in driving down the cost of prescription drugs, not raising them."
