(SENIORS) New York Starts New $150M Alternative Long-Term Care Effort

(Deadline: Aug. 25) New York provides $150 million in state grants for community projects to coordinate local service providers to develop alternatives to traditional nursing homes.

The primary goal of the new grant program called Alternative Long Term Care Initiatives is to help individual communities organize, finance and develop their own long-term care alternatives that fit their needs.
The grants will be available to a wide range of entities including: (1) municipalities; (2) nursing homes; (3) assisted living programs; and (4) consortiums of these and similar organizations.

Grant recipients will coordinate licensed residential programs to offer community members a series of long-term care options that match their community's need, while downsizing the number of nursing home beds, maintaining a sufficient nursing workforce and promoting access to aging in place.
