(SAFETY) Liaisons Will Aid Seat Belt Usage, Drunk Driving Efforts in 3 States

(Nat'l Highway Traffic Safety Admin); Program: Law Enforcement Liaison (LEL): Region 2 (CFDA Number: 20.614) (Funding Opportunity Number: DTNH22-10-R-00325); Eligibility: State and local law enforcement agencies in Region 2,which includes New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands; Funding: $500,000 for two awards; Deadline: April 19.

Purpose: These funds go to help Region 2 states and territories (New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands) successfully implement two programs to increase safety belt use (Click It or Ticket, CIOT) and reduce the incidence of impaired driving (Drunk Driving, Over the Limit Under Arrest, DDOLUA).

To assist in implementing the CIOT and DDOLUA initiatives, grantees will receive funding to hire an experienced law enforcement officer (active or retired) to serve as the Regional LEL. These individuals will market and coordinate the campaigns throughout the region with law enforcement agencies at the state, county and municipal levels.
