(ENVIRONMENT) Stimulus Carves Out $10K for ND Archaeological Project

The Interior Dept. intends to award $10,000 from the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009 (AARA) for archaeological testing (excavation) at a rock shelter in the High Rock Wilderness Area of the Black Rock Desert-High Rock Canyon Emigrant Trails Nat'l Conservation Area (and other nearby testing) and analysis of the material recovered, plus analysis of material recovered in an earlier phase of the project.

\r\n

This is a single source grant, to be awarded to the U. of North Dakota, which will work under a cooperative agreement with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to recover data as well as train students in field techniques, artifact analysis and report preparation.
