Summary: The Illinois-based Dr. Scholl Foundation is dedicated to providing financial assistance to organizations committed to making the world a better place.

Applications must be requested on each organization's letterhead.  Each request must be made individually on each organization's own letterhead.

The foundation doesn't offer funding for general operating support. It prefers that applicants request funding for a specific project. A project grant is given to support a specific, connected set of activities, with a beginning and an end, explicit objectives and a predetermined cost. When a funder gives a grant for a specific project, it is generally a restricted grant and must be used for that project. In general, project grants are given to support projects related to the mission of the charity receiving the money.

Insider's Tip: The foundation makes an effort to be accessible. In fact, staffers suggest that any applicant who wishes to meet with the foundation president should just call for an appointment (847/559-7430).
