Deadline: May 1.
The A.L. Mailman Family Foundation provides grants to improve the early care and education of young children. The foundation supports projects conducted by national organizations or intermediaries promoting high-quality early childhood programs, especially for children from birth to three-years-old. Funding is not provided for locally focused, direct service programs such as childcare centers, schools and professional education programs.
Insider's Tip: The foundation notes that the economic downturn has limited the reach of its giving operations and it is not accepting uninvited proposals for new projects. However, this may be a good time to get on the foundation's radar with a simple letter of introduction that does NOT ask for a specific monetary donation.
